How soon after a crash should I seek legal help?

If you have been badly injured, the short answer is ‘as soon as possible’. CTC members can access information and advice from our claims line, and in rare cases non-members may be eligible to receive this membership benefit. You can learn more about navigating the legal process in our practical briefing ‘Pursuing claims and cases against bad drivers’. This explains the difference between the civil and criminal legal processes in relation to bad driving.

If you have not been badly injured, the issue of when (or if) to seek help becomes more complicated due to the nature of the legal system. Please read our briefing ‘Pursuing claims and cases against bad drivers’ for more information.
