Cyclist killed in Bury: driver pleads guilty to causing death by careless driving (23/3/11)

A driver has appeared in court and admitted causing the death of a Bury cyclist last year.

Lee Kenny, aged 41, of Rochdale Old Road, Bury, pleaded guilty on Monday to causing death by careless driving at Bolton Crown Court.

Bernard Parkes, aged 64, of Radcliffe Road, Bury, suffered a head injury in the collision and died two days later.

Lorry driver admits causing death by careless driving but still charged with dangerous (23/5/11)

A lorry driver has admitted causing the death of a women who was waiting in her car at a set of traffic lights.

CTC's view: 

In this case prosecutors refuse to accept the plea of guilty to causing death by careless driving, however, there are many many cases now emerging where prosecutors do accept this plea, even after initially charging the driver with causing death by dangerous driving.

Cyclist killed in collision with a lorry on Bath Road, Thatcham (24/1/12)

A 40-year-old man from Thatcham, Berkshire, has died after the bicycle he was riding along the Bath Road was hit by a lorry on the 24th January.

CTC's view: 

By our count the 3rd lorry-related cyclist fatality in 2012.

It does not appear that the driver of the lorry has been arrested.

Cyclist Maria Micklethwaite killed in collision with car near Wakefield (13/1/12)

The police have announced that Maria Micklethwaite, 36, was killed in collision with a Ford Focus while cycling on Slack Lane, in South Hiendley, near Wakefield, at around 3.25pm on Friday, 13th January 2012.
