Lorry driver who crashed into Kings Heath schoolgirl admits dangerous driving (Nov 2011)

13 year old Hope Fennell died after she was hit by lorry driver, Darren Foster (38), on Kings Heath High Street in November 2011.

CTC's view:

In the absence of a court hearing, we do not know the circumstances of the death, other than that the driver was texting a minute before the collision, but not at the time it happened. For whatever reason, the CPS evidently felt it could not prove that the dangerous driving, which Darren Foster has admitted to, was the cause of Hope’s death. Hence the theoretical maximum sentence he faces is now 2 years, not 14.
