Pensioner held over cyclist's death (18/11/11)
A pensioner has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving over the death of a 74-year-old cyclist.
The cyclist, who has not yet been named, was in collision with a blue Renault Espace near Fox Hill Farm on Darlington Back Lane in Stockton, Teesside, on Friday afternoon.
A Cleveland Police spokesman said both the cyclist and the car were heading east towards Stockton from Sadberge when the incident happened.
No-one else was hurt.
The spokesman said: “A 73-year-old car driver had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
“Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have seen the cyclist before the accident.”
