Pedestrian killed at Elephant and Castle in London (21/12/11)

A 21 year-old man was knocked down and killed by a van driver at the Elephant and Castle in South London.

Another pedestrian, a 22 year-old woman, was also taken to hospital with leg injuries. The collision happened in New Kent Road at the junction of Falmouth Road.

The driver of the van, a man aged 43, stopped at the scene. He has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and been bailed until February.
