Mother unhappy about short sentence attracted by causing death by careless driving (6/12/09)
The mother of a young man who was killed in the back of a car driven by a friend has criticised the short sentence the driver received.
The driver, who was a teenager at the time, was initially charged with ‘causing death by dangerous driving’ by after pleading guilty to ‘causing death by careless driving’ was sentenced to 16 months, of which only 8 were to be served. He also received a 2 year driving ban. He has since returned to the village in West Wales where she, her two remaining sons and husband live.
