Man held over fatal 'hit-and-run' near Barnoldswick (22/11/2010)

A man has been arrested after a suspected hit-and-run crash in Lancashire in which a cyclist died.

Michael Isherwood, 36, from Barnoldswick, was found next to his bicycle on Kelbrook Road in Salterforth near the town on Monday morning.

He was airlifted to the Royal Blackburn Hospital but later died.

A 46-year-old man from Hyde, Greater Manchester, has been arrested – he was originally charged with ‘dangerous’, this has now been changed to careless.

He is due to be questioned by officers at Burnley Police Station.

CTC's view:

Originally this hit and run driver was charged with causing death by dangerous driving. This charge has now been watered down to causing death by careless driving.
